trailer for troll was released as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, and gives us a brief, but spooky look at the mythical creature from Norway. Uthaug says the project had been in the works for 20 years, and it was originally intended for his acting tomb Raider Let Alicia Vikander lead once again. However, the actor had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts.

In the trailer, we see a group of researchers drive up to the mountains of Dover to discover what they think is a myth. But they learn that it was actually a real creature, something that roamed the night, and remained frozen during the day. The team discovers a monstrously large footprint, and comes across a cave littered with giant bones. But soon, they come face to face against a troll who is said to have been sleeping for 1000 years.

While Uthaug was the first to get the idea, the screenplay was written by Aspen Auken. Auken worked on the Norwegian horror hit, viking wolf, As for the cast, the leading role of Vikander went to Inne Marie Wilmann. Additional cast members include Mads Sjögard Petersen, Kim Falk, Pal Anders Nordvi, Hugo Michal Schorr and Erik Vorenholt. The film was primarily filmed in Oslo, and production wrapped in December 2021.
