The Duke of Cambridge, during a congratulatory speech at the palace, did not skimp on jokes about his grandmother.
A star party was held at Buckingham Palace, which was attended by both royal family representatives and star guests. Prince William especially distinguished himself at the celebration, the main theme of the Duke of Cambridge’s speech was the success of the royal family in the work of conserving nature, but the assembled guests did not remember it for it.
According to People, at the start of his speech, Prince William compared Buckingham Palace to an IMAX screen, given the actually large number of attendees.
The Duke of Cambridge, in his speech, thanked his family members for their decades of work and, of course, hastened to express admiration and pride for his grandmother Elizabeth, but it was not without humour.
“Although no grandmother in the world thanks anyone for remembering her age, my own grandmother has lived for almost a century,” he said. At the end of his speech, Prince William said that protecting and restoring the planet remains of relevance, and that he hopes and believes that it will be possible to preserve nature for future generations. The Duke of Cambridge even jokingly insisted that he had the same unshakable optimism as Elizabeth II.
Recall that on the same day, Prince William, in the company of his wife Kate Middleton and their older children, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, went to Wales in honor of the anniversary weekend. As they finished their speech, Kate, George and Charlotte enthusiastically waved their Union Jack flags and the children joined in the applause.
