One can still talk about the upcoming film on the life of legendary musician Elvis Presley. It stars Austin Butler as The King and one can imagine the actor is overjoyed. When the concept of the Elvis biopic was first discussed, apparently, actors from up and down Hollywood were interested in the role and it was clear that whoever was chosen would win the lottery.
Among the hopes was former One Direction singer, Harry Styles, who has found significant success since going solo. It was recently revealed that Harry Styles was clearly desperate for the role.
Director, Baz Luhrmann recently revealed that although he turned down styles for the role, he was not entirely happy with the decision. Luhrmann revealed that he believes Harry is a hugely talented man in both music and acting, but his worldwide success right now is the primary reason Harry was not cast in the role. Furthermore, Luhrmann also said that Austin Butler was born just to play the role. Austin was coached by none other than Denzel Washington and it was Denzel who suggested to Luhrmann that he should cast Butler in the role.
Despite the disapproval, Luhrmann made it clear that he had nothing more to admire than Harry Styles and that even though he was not cast in the project, Luhrmann would soon be working with Styles on a cinematic project.
The much-awaited Elvis biopic is set to hit the theaters on June 23 and has sold out as expected in theaters across the world. In addition to Butler, the film also stars legendary actor Tom Hanks as Elvis’ real-life manager Tom Parker.
Harry Styles’ acting debut in the long-awaited Elvis biopic may have been a great way to kick-start his acting career, but the singer’s incredibly devoted fan base still follows him and are eager to see who Harry is. C will pick up the film. If the film includes the directorial debut of Baz Luhrmann, who has already featured in several iconic films like The Great Gatsby, the wait for Styles’ debut will be worth it.
