Harry Styles Takes To Instagram To Speak Out Against Gun Violence, Pledges To Dedicate $1 Million To End Gun Violence

On Tuesday, May 24, the entire nation came to a standstill when news of the shooting at Rob’s Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, came to a halt. 18-year-old Salvador Ramos entered the school heavily armed and shot 19 students and two teachers, injuring at least 17 others. According to reports, before coming to school on the day of the shooting, Salvador had also attacked his grandmother, who had fled to her neighbor’s house to inform the police, as a result of which officers eventually arrived at the school and shot the lone gunman. .

Celebrities and politicians alike expressed their grief over the tragic incident and protests against the crackdown on gun violence in the country once again took hold.

Harry Styles took to his Instagram to express his grief and to announce that he has pledged to donate $1 million dollars to end gun violence in America forever. His post read, “With all of you, I am absolutely devastated by the recent mass shootings in America that culminated at Rob’s Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.”

Styles mentioned that he would partner with a non-profit organization called Everytown for Gun Safety for this purpose. Styles said that $1 million from proceeds from his upcoming North American tour would go to Everytown for Gun Safety to support his efforts, and Styles also said he would share what he suggested. After that, Styles’ next post shared a statistic according to which gun violence is the No. 1 cause of death for children and teens in America, no doubt pointing to the frequent incidence of school shootings in the country, Resulting in easier access to firearms.

Salvador Ramos had bought 2 AR-15 rifles just a week before the day of the attack, when he had reached legal age. Along with the rifles, Salvador also purchased 300 rounds of ammunition, a carry that cost a total of $5,000.

Everytown for Gun Safety has been working to promote gun control and end gun violence in America since 2013. Styles has said that he will share the action he recommends to tackle the issue of gun violence.
