David Harbor Struggles With Poverty, Talks About Mental Illness Before Stranger Things

In a recent interview, David Harbor He talks about his struggles with poverty and mental illness before finding fame and success from his role as Jim Hopper.

David Harbor revealed that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 26 after suffering a particularly strong episode. The actor mentioned that he struggled a lot because of the situation, though he also commented that he was lucky to have a family that helped him through the tough times.

However, despite many supportive people around him, Harbor was still struggling. One of his primary struggles, as Harbor described himself, was poverty. Harbor pointed out that in society, poverty and mental illness go hand in hand with one feeding the other.

“When you can’t participate in society by buying lunch and going to the store and stuff, it will drive you crazy. It’s chicken and egg. They go together,” Harbor said. The actor got many roles in various projects, but none that brought him fame and success.

Harbor said that by age 35, he had largely given up on his dream and was happy if he could just pay for rent and food and basic necessities. When the actor got the part of Jim Hopper in Stranger Things at the age of 40, he didn’t expect much. He loved the script but doubted that people would appreciate him for it.

However, once Stranger Things entered the world, Harbor immediately received applause and congratulations from all directions on the show. As of now, the show has won several Emmys and received several nominations for the Golden Globes. Harbor is 47 years old and has starred in several major projects following the success of Stranger Things, including the role of the Red Guardian in Marvel’s Black Widow.
