WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes has suffered a torn pectoral tendon at Hell in a Cell 2022 with fans worried about the status of his injury.

American Nightmare is due to face off with Seth freakin’ Rollins inside the iconic and diabolical formations in one of tonight’s major matches as their rivalry takes it to another level.

In a statement less than an hour after the show began, WWE tweeted: ‘BREAKING: @CodyRhodes suffered a partially torn right pectoral tendon during an altercation with @WWERollins last Monday on #WWERaw had to face it.’

Speaking at the Hell in a Cell 2022 kickoff show, host Kayla Braxton said: ‘During weight training in preparation, the tendon completely detached from the bone.’

However, while Rhodes is still gearing up for the main event, fans will be concerned about his short-lived future in the ring after the bout.

He has yet to publicly address the injury, but he appeared to be responding to reports earlier in the day as he shared a photo from the Allstate Arena in Chicago and wrote: ‘You ready for Chicago? #HIAC @WWE’

With WWE directly addressing the real-life injury, it appears that Rhodes has been cleared to wrestle on the show, as there would have been enough time to kick him out of the event.

Elsewhere tonight, Bianca Belair is defending her Raw Women’s Championship in an opening match against Becky Lynch and Asuka, while United States champ Theory wins gold against Mustafa Ali.

Elias’ younger brother Ezekiel is set to take on Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley faces MVP and Omos in a two-on-one clash, and former befriended rivals Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin in a bitter No Holds Bard match. are against each other.

And in a massive mixed six-person tag match, The Judgment Day – Edge, Damien Priest and Rhea Ripley – will take on the team of AJ Styles, Finn Balor and Liv Morgan.

With plenty of room for championship changes, emotional battles, and even a few surprises, fans can expect Hell in a Cell to continue WWE history with a premium live event.

WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 is now airing live on the WWE Network, while the show will also be available to stream on demand.
