This is according to former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro, who says he would like to see the ‘real’ Pogba again if he returns to Turin.
Pogba is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Old Lady when his United contract expires at the end of the month, which will see him return to the club after his departure in 2016.
The Frenchman was a major success during his first stint in Italy, winning five Serie A titles and helping the club to the 2015 Champions League final.
But he has failed to replicate that form during most of his six years at Old Trafford and Cannavaro feels he must reclaim his former self, otherwise he will be ‘of no use’ to the club.
‘He has to find the reason. The midfielder from the recent season is of no use to Juventus or France.
Erik ten Haag had not spoken to Pogba before his departure, but he was made aware of the midfielder’s desire to leave and felt it would be wrong for the club to offer him a new contract.
The Dutchman is targeting Barcelona ace Frankie de Jong, as well as a striker and a centre-back, this summer.
