Love Island 2022 has already turned tense, with Gemma Owen slammed for being ‘rude’.

The dressage champion, who is also the daughter of footballer Michael Owen, was not the happiest after pairing up with Liam Llewellyn.

However, it was Luka Bish who seemed a little annoyed when he took aim at his surname.

After revealing his last name to the boys (though neither of them looked to be their famous father), Luca reveals his, with Gemma declaring it ‘unfortunate’.

A little weird

Viewers didn’t like the moment, Islander of the Past Shaughna Phillips weighed in and said: ‘So I thought Gemma was being harsh enough about Luca’s surname, but that apparently means she likes him? ‘

‘Wtf who insults someone’s surname??? Courtless….’ Another onlooker said.

‘Gemma telling Luca his surname is unfortunate. Um your general attitude is unfortunate,’ said one viewer, ‘Nah Gemma got Liam and Luca wrong and it’s only the first day.’

Later in the launch episode, the islanders sat down for a cheeky game that saw Liam choose a girl to dance on his lap.

He chose Gemma, who turned him down. He was then forced to choose again, choosing Page Thorne.

‘Gemma doesn’t evaluate Liam. AT ALLLLLL,” declared one viewer, while another added: “I feel so bad what’s with Gemma’s attitude towards Liam.”

Safe to say, the spark isn’t flying between them at all.

However, Gemma seemed a little Infatuated with the bombastic David Sanclimenti, who rushed to the scene to shake things up.

Over the next 24 hours, David will choose a girl for the couple, leaving a boy vulnerable – so if the feelings are mutual, Liam could be in trouble.

Love Island continues tonight at 9 PM on ITV2.
