Football star Lionel Messi will be hoping to impress fans when he makes an appearance in the second season of the Argentine TV series, Los Protectors.
Messi is one of the sport’s most iconic stars, having reached legendary status for both Barcelona and PSG, as well as being the undoubted star of the Argentina national team.
However, he is trying something new as he prepares to land his first acting role.
While he has previously appeared in commercials for various brands such as Pepsi and Turkish Airlines, this will be the first time he will get a chance to try his acting.
A new backstage video from the set of the series shows the footballer having fun on set as he prepares to film for the role.
In the clip, Messi can be seen being greeted by the cast, as they drink glasses of champagne.
He is set to appear as a ‘special guest’ in season two in scenes being shot in Paris.
PSG Forward laughs with his co-stars in the short snippet, as he appears excited before filming.
The second season has been filmed on location in Buenos Aires as well as the French capital, and is set to hit screens next year.
Upcoming new episodes will follow three football agents who ‘face an unexpected threat to their business.’
Unfortunately, it is not currently available to watch in the UK, and is available in Argentina on the channel Star+.
The show is produced by Disney, which confirmed that it was renewed for a second season a week before the first season premiered in March.
This comes after Messi’s sensational international performance on Sunday night. Scored all five goals in the friendly match against Estonia.
It is only the second time he has achieved this feat, having achieved a quintet goal in 2012 when he defeated Bayer Leverkusen by five wickets in the Champions League.
While Estonia may only be ranked 110th in the world, that hasn’t stopped fans from in awe of the 34-year-old’s achievement.
It also puts the South American team in a good position ahead of the Qatar World Cup, which comes after their unbeaten World Cup qualifying campaign and last year’s Copa America victory.
