Kim Kardashian doubles down on weight loss comments after Met Gala backlash

The 41-year-old came under fire last month when she stunned the red carpet in New York, decked out in the Hollywood legend’s iconic, bejeweled dress from 1962.
During an interview before heading to the event, on boyfriend Pete Davidson’s arm, the mom-of-four sparked even more outrage when she revealed the effort she made to fit in the outfit.
Reiterating her original comments in a new interview, Kim vowed she didn’t do ‘anything amiss’, comparing her weight loss to that of movie stars who transition to big-screen roles.
‘ To me it was like, “Well, Christian Bale can do it for a movie role and that’s acceptable.” Even Renee Zellweger gained weight for a role. It’s all the same to me,’ she said. ‘I wasn’t saying, “Hey everyone, why don’t you lose weight in such a short time?”
‘I didn’t do anything unhealthy.’
Marilyn’s outfit—which was under lock and key at Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum—couldn’t be changed at all, Kim lost 16lbs to make the look work.
To do this, she went on a strict diet, wore a sauna suit twice a day, ran on the treadmill and completely cut out all sugar and carbs, eating only the cleanest vegetables and proteins.
talking to new York TimesThe Skims businesswoman — who lifted the lid on the serious lengths she went to to look youthful — insisted that if she didn’t reach her goal, she wouldn’t attend the event at all.
“I just couldn’t go, no matter what,” she said. ‘It was just so important to me to reach that goal.’
Kim had previously faced a flurry of fury after wearing the gown to the exclusive bash, when she detailed the measures she had taken for the look.
“The dress was taken away by guards and I had to put on gloves to try it on,” she told Vogue US at the time, admitting it didn’t fit initially.
‘I always thought she was extremely curvy. I thought I might be smaller in some places where she was older and bigger where she was younger. So when it didn’t fit me I wanted to cry because it absolutely can’t be replaced.
‘I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and eat only the cleanest vegetables and proteins.
‘I didn’t starve myself, but I was very strict.’
riverdale actress Lili Reinhart was among those who slammed Kim for her “ignorant” words.
She raged on Instagram: ‘To walk the red carpet and do an interview where you say how hungry you are… because you haven’t eaten carbs in the last month…
‘Very wrong. So at the f*****100 level.
‘To openly admit to starving myself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking at you and listening to your every word. Ignorance is other-worldly abomination.
‘I’m not usually a grumpy person, but I swear to god, the toxicity of this industry sometimes really gets me and I have to do my little Instagram-story rants to take my anger out. ‘
