Jack Wilshere believes Gareth Bale is not enough to get the game for Arsenal.
The 32-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Real Madrid and has been in talks on a move to championship side Cardiff City.
Bale earned his £85.3million at Real Madrid in 2013 on the back of his stellar performances for Tottenham.
But Wilshere believes Bale’s best days are behind him and feels he won’t be able to make it to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Asked if he would take Bale to Arsenal, Wilshere told talkSPORT: ‘No.
‘I look at players who would be playing in that position and they are young players who have been arguably Arsenal’s best players over the years.
‘So one, I don’t think he gets a game. And if he does, I think he will hold back one of those players.’
Asked if it is realistic to move to Cardiff City, Bale said last week: ‘I can’t really say.
‘I haven’t really thought about it too much. I really don’t know if the standard makes much difference.
The game of football is the game of football. I think I will never really lose my quality on the ball. I think it should be a conversation.
‘I need to make sure that I’m playing the sport and I’m as fit as possible, that’s going to be quite important.
‘Coming into this camp now, I was not fit at all. I didn’t have much time to play. Sometimes I get away with it. Ideally I want to play the game in a World Cup and be able to stay as fit as I can.
