The 75-year-old icon left fans worried this week when he was pictured in a wheelchair, prompting some to speculate about his health.
However he later assured the public that he was ‘in best health’ and ‘playing and singing at my best’ after two sold-out shows in Germany.
He explained: ‘It was a very long walk to get to the plane, so my team kindly lay down in a wheelchair so I could rest my hip after doing the show. That’s all for today.’
While fans’ concerns were sparked by Sir Elton himself confirming he was in good health, new photos of the singer walking unaided are an added reassurance.
The star, who was visiting Cannes with his family, was seen walking hand-in-hand with his little son.
He shares 11-year-old Zachary and nine-year-old Eliza with husband David Furnish, and the family enjoys a break from touring as they explore Cannes.
In the photos, Sir Elton and his son are dressed for good weather, wearing both shorts and sunglasses, with the singer wearing matching navy shorts and a shirt with an anchor pattern.
The star was later seen helping her yacht tender after enjoying a lunch date with longtime friend Bob Manoukian.
But while he needed an extra hand to get on board, the Rocketman star appeared to be in good health as he enjoyed quality time with his family.
Sir Elton underwent hip surgery last year, which delayed his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, but insisted later He was ‘hurt to go’ and got back on stage.
On Saturday, the star appeared for a pre-recorded performance in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee, with a major concert taking place outside Buckingham Palace.
Other musicians included Sir Rod Stewart and UK Eurovision icon Sam Ryder, whose stellar performances drew comparisons to the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.
Later this summer, Sir Elton will return to the UK for the British Summer Time headline in Hyde Park on 24 June, featuring Reina Sawayama and The Gabriels.
The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour ends on 8 July in Stockholm, Sweden, after which Sir Elton will retire from live performances.
