EastEnders fans are not happy with the news that the soap will change its theme tune for Queen Platinum Jubilee.
This week, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will Join the residents of Albert Square On Thursday (June 2), as they mark Her Majesty the Queen Platinum Jubilee With a street party.
It has already been confirmed that Prince Charles and Camilla will be greeting the royal couple outside the pub with Mick (Danny Dyer) and Linda (Kelly Bright) within the episode, before introducing them to Walford residents.
To mark the special occasion, the EastEnders theme tune has been rewritten.
At the end of the episode, the piece of music is composed by Simon May, the original theme tune composer.
Ahead of the Royal visit, many EastEnders fans are voicing their opinion on the news that the iconic theme tune will be changing.
‘Can they stop going about the jubilee? Nobody cares!!’, wrote a Twitter user.
Another EastEnders fan joked: ‘Think this will send our Shirls over the edge!’.
‘Jubilee scene is already ruining my day’, tweeted another user.
While some viewers are not too keen on Platinum Jubilee, there are others who think that making a few changes to the soap is the right way to celebrate 70 years on the Queen’s throne.
Responding to the news, an EastEnders and royal family follower said: ‘Lovely. I don’t approve of any tampering with the EastEnders theme tune, unless it’s done by Peerless @SimonMayMusic. Although nothing will ever go out of Julia’s theme.
Commenting on this latest news, executive producer, Chris Clenshaw said: ‘For Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall not only do we all come to Wallford but also appear in one episode, we just felt it was just right. that we marked it. Extremely important episode with a fitting tribute.
‘What better way to greet Their Royal Highnesses on their way from Albert Square than with a special Jubilee version of our iconic theme tune, recreated by the very talented Simon May. ‘
