Dan Walker has revealed that he will be marking the first day of his new TV life on Channel 5, where he moved from BBC Breakfast to a lucrative new deal with an appearance on rival Good Morning Britain on Monday.

He announced the slightly unexpected news on Twitter on Sunday with his usual trademark humor, even shouting out his longtime presenter ‘wife’ at the bib, Sally Nugent.

“First day of my new TV life tomorrow and it’s gonna start in a very weird way… on @GMB,” he wrote alongside a blushing and laughing emoji.

Referring to the sentencing alarm that he is able to go live at the BBC’s Salford studio at 6am, as well as his new home, he continued: ‘See you in the morning with @susannareid100 (thankfully not too early) ) and from 5, at 5.’

The 45-year-old Strictly Come Dancing contestant again quipped: ‘PS I still love you @sallynugent.’

Dan’s tweet attracted several messages of good luck, including First Dates star Fred Sirieaux, while one follower joked: ‘It seems a bit off when Sol Campbell signed for Arsenal.’

Six years after saying goodbye to the BBC in May, in which he was presented with a giant inflatable lobster as part of one of his most infamous Strictly routines, the presenter shared a small glimpse at his new home. Take a look at your new workplace.

Dan praised his new colleagues as “cute” after announcing in March that she was stepping down, replacing Sean Williams.

In a new interview, Dan also admitted that he ‘hates talking about money’ when it was first revealed that he was among the top 20 highest paid presenters at the broadcaster before exiting.

he continued Daily Mail Weekend Magazine: ‘I feel uncomfortable that I get paid too much to do the work I love.

‘I remember the first day a national newspaper published my earnings on the front page. That was terrible.’

The presenter was revealed as the 18th highest-paid star in the broadcaster, earning £295,000, with Gary Lineker topping the £1.3 million list.

As well as anchoring 5 Newspapers, Monday through Friday, Dan will also put forth programs such as documentaries for the corporation, in a deal said to be valued at £1.5million over three years.
