England has selected a 14-man squad for the upcoming ODI series against the Netherlands.

Eoin Morgan’s World Cup winners will play three one-day internationals against the Netherlands in Amstelveen, a suburb of the Amsterdam metropolitan area, starting June 17.

Lancashire bowler Luke Wood and Gloucestershire pacer David Payne are the two uncapped players named in the squad.

This is Wood’s first call-up to the senior team, while Payne made an appearance in the ODIs against Pakistan last summer.

New England white ball coach Matthew Mott said: ‘I am very excited to be coaching a strong team for my first series in charge. We have tremendous depth with a mix of youth and experience.

“We want to continue to play in an expressive style and allow our players to showcase their skills and firepower.

Eoin Morgan (Middlesex), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Brydon Carsey (Durham), Sam Curran (Surrey), Liam Livingstone (Lancashire), David Malan (Yorkshire), David Payne (Gloucestershire), Adil Rashid ( Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Phil Salt (Lancashire), Reece Topley (Surrey), David Willey (Yorkshire), Luke Wood (Lancashire)

‘Luke Wood deserves his call-up. He has been a consistent performer for Lancashire over the past 12 months and we are monitoring his progress. If he is given a chance to play, I am sure he will make the most of this opportunity.

‘This is a historic occasion for the sport and the England men have played the Netherlands in an ODI series for the first time. We can’t wait to visit Amsterdam and present a show to the thousands of fans who travel to support the team.

‘The ODI team had limited opportunities and was last played in July. However, with almost 18 months into the next ICC 50-over World Cup in India, our preparations will begin with nine matches in the summer and a busy winter against strong opponents.

England’s visit to Amsterdam begins a busy period for the team, which plays white-ball series against India and South Africa later in the summer.
