Aaron Ramsey and his international teammates won the 2022 . Wells’s qualifications are described for World Cup like a dream come true.

The Red Dragons defeated Ukraine 1–0 in Cardiff, with Andrey Yarmolenko deciding the play-off final as Rob Page’s side made history as the first Wales team to play in a World Cup since 1958.

After the final whistle, an enthusiastic Ramsey told Sky Sports: ‘It’s unbelievable! Little Old Wales is going to the World Cup!

‘Right now reaching three big tournaments and reaching the top with the World Cup is something else.’

Defender Ben Davies was in inspired form during the game, making several significant blocks and interceptions to hold a massive and emotionally charged Ukraine side.

‘It’s a wonderful feeling. It’s unbelievable, a dream come true,’ said the Tottenham man.

‘There were a lot of emotions in this game, very frantic at times but we faced every challenge they threw at us, and I would say to a man we were fantastic.

“As a squad, we have worked very hard for this. We may not have the most talented players in every situation, but we fight, and we give it everything we get.’

For many in the Welsh team, qualification for the World Cup in Qatar is the culmination of a decade-long journey, with many experienced players such as Ramsey and captain Gareth Bale calling for their last chance to play in the tournament.

Fellow defender Conor Roberts said: ‘I never thought I’d even play for Wales, so it’s probably impossible to play for Wales in the World Cup to be honest.

‘Hopefully I can get off to a good start’ [next] Now the season and get yourself out to Qatar and represent my country again.

The World Cup in Qatar begins in November when Wales are placed in Group B where they will face England as well as Iran and the US.
