The world is a dangerous place it’s like a sleeping volcano if you slip you slides. Below is a small compiled list of safety tips that you can use and pass on, it’s not like you don’t’ know these things already but it wouldn’t hurt to reinforce these safety practice. Trouble and problems doest set like rain it sneak up on you when you least expected it, its best to practice a safe way of living.
1. Teach your children their full names, addresses and home telephone numbers.
2. Make sure your children know how to reach you at work or on your cell phone.
3. Caution children not to post revealing information or inappropriate photos of themselves or their friends online.
4. Remind your children it’s OK to say NO to anything that makes them feel scared, uncomfortable or confused and teach your children to tell you if anything or anyone makes them feel this way.
5. Teach your children to ask permission before leaving home
6. Teach your children to check in with you if there is a change of plans
7. Teach your children to understand the difference between “bad touch” and a “good touch.”
8. Sew your child’s name to the inside of their bag. Do not display the child’s name on the outside of the bag as this will enable persons of ill intent to trick them into believing that they are known to them.
9. Teach your children to avoid situations where persons may attempt to quietly get their attention. Tell them to respond loudly to attract the attention of others.
10. Should your child be lost, their first line of action should be to find a uniform person, such as the police, or run to a place of business and speak with the person behind the counter.
11. Do not accept rides from strangers.
12. Never tell a stranger on the phone that you are alone at home.
13. If you are at the rear of the house, lock up the front and vice versa.
14. Avoid high hedges and trim overgrown bushes near entrance-ways or under windows, allowing a clear view of your house.
15. Do not leave house keys under doormats or in flower pot. Provide a key for each member of the household.
16. Be alert – look for peculiar features on the robber – associate these with each of the robbers if there are more than one.
17. Fit steering locks, wheel locks and car with alarms. These are less expensive than replacing the car after it is stolen.
18. Always lock your car even when leaving it for a short time.
19. While waiting for someone, avoid parking at a lonely spot.
20. Do not display large sums of money in public.
